Week of Walks Autumn 2019


It’s YOU time!

You spoke and we listened. We are thrilled to offer refreshing new changes to our Autumn 2019 Week of Walks (formerly known as the reBOOT). Here’s what we have for ya:

  • See schedule overview below but for any walk over 60 minutes, we will have 2 Elements guides. Therefore those who want to move fast for heart pumping exercise, we got you and will lead the way. For those who want to slow down to ‘smell the roses’ we are all set for you too.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday we have scheduled 60, 90 and 120 minute walks. So if time is restricted join our shorter walk or unlimited, hoof along on a longer walk. You have options and room to roam. Full Week of Walkers can come on all the walks!

  • On Wednesday, we are offering an all day hike in the mountains of Virginia ( approx 60 minute drive time). We want to get farther afield and take advantage of the majesty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River Valley.

  • And drum roll. . . .too busy to commit to the Full Week of Walks, than register for just the walks or hike that suit your schedule. We welcome you for one or all of our Week of Walks Autumn adventures.

  • Lastly, some things should never change.

    • We will always offer really unique, ‘off the beaten track’ routes

    • . . .and yet again, we are matching our Autumn Week of Walks schedule with Little Green for the Autumn seasonal, guided cleanse. So while moving your body on the Elements walks and reviving the spirit with lots of fresh air, you can nourish the body too with the support of Little Green. This is our best Week of Walks yet and we can’t wait to share all the treasures of the trail and talents of our vibrant community with you.

We would love if you would encourage your friends to join but rest assured, whether solo or with your friends, you will leave each Elements experience stronger, wiser from the conversation (and quiet) and grounded.

Every day you will receive an Elements email with the nitty gritty details of the upcoming walks as well as wisdom and inspiration from the trail.

  • $125; Full Week of Walks (any or all of our 16 walks and hike)

  • $25: ‘Walk A La Carte’: choose the individual walks that suit your schedule.

Sept. 29: Sunday afternoon Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Great Falls National Park, Potomac, MD

  • Time: 4:00 – 6:00pm

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions: 4 miles. Single track, flat with views of Potomac River

  • Lead by Margaret Rietano + Fran Barnes


Sept. 30: Monday Sunrise Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: NW DC: Cleveland Park area

  • Time: 6:10 – 7:00am

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions: 2.5 miles, hilly ups/downs, some single track, some city sidewalk

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano

 

Sept . 30: Monday Morning Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Great Falls/McLean, VA

  • Time: 10:00 – 12:00am

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: 5 miles. Woodland. Hilly ups and downs. Single Tracks.

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Elements Assistant

 

Sept 30: Monday Mid-Day Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: DC: Embassy Heights and Georgetown

  • Time: 2:00 – 3:30 pm

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions; 4.6 miles round trip. Mostly woodland trails, hilly, single and double track trails

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Elements Assistant


 Oct. 1: Tuesday Morning Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: NW DC: Cleveland/Woodley Park Neighborhood

  • Time: 9:15 – 10:45

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: 4 miles (4+/-). Woodland trails and hills and dales

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Elements Assistant (possibly Clarissa Potter)

 

Oct 1: Tuesday Mid-Day Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Virginia: McLEAN

  • Time: 1:30 – 3:30pm

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: Hilly up/down, double track & single track and some steep ascents/descents along Potomac River banks. ~4+/- miles

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Fran Barnes

 

Oct 1: Tuesday Dusk Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Wesley Heights

  • Time: 5:30 - 6:30 pm

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: Hilly up/down, double track & single track & several stream crossings.

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano


Oct. 2: Wednesday Sunrise Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Georgetown

  • Time: 6:10 – 7:00am

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions: 2 (+/-) miles, hilly ups/downs, some single track, some

  • Lead: Fran Barnes

 

Oct 2: Wednesday Full Day Hike

  • Neighborhood: Bluemont, Virginia: Blueridge Mountains and Shenandoah River Valley

  • Transportation NOT provided by Elements. Recommend carpooling.

  • Time: 10:00 – 4:00pm (+/-)

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: 6.8 miles (+/-). There are steep ascents and descents on this section of the Appalachian Trail. It is not called the roller coaster as a joke but the trail is beautiful and the vistas make it worth the effort.

Oct 3: Thursday Morning Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Palisades

  • Time: 9:30 – 11:30am

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: 4+/- miles of trails, bridges, river bank and more.

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Clarissa Potter


Oct 3: Thursday Mid-Day Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Chevy Chase/Forest Hills

  • Time: 1:30 – 3:00pm

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions: 4 +/- miles, single and double track trails

  • Lead: Celine Delany + Elements Assistant


Oct 3: Thursday Dusk Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Wesley Heights and Palisades

  • Time: 5:30 – 6:30pm

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: 2-3 miles. Double track path, Rooty, rocky and hilly.

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano


 Oct. 4: Friday Sunrise Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: NW DC: Cleveland Park neighborhood

  • Time: 6:10 – 7:00am

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions: 2 (+/-) miles, hilly ups/downs, some single track, some city sidewalk

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano

 

Oct. 4: Friday Morning Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: DC: Rock Creek Park Nature Center/Stable area

  • Time: 9:00 – 11:0am

  • Mileage and Trail Conditions: woodland paths, ups and downs. 4+/-mile loop

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Clarissa Potter

 

Oct. 4: Friday Mid-Day Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: DC: Chevy Chase: Forest Hills, NW

  • Time: 1:30 – 3:00pm

  • Mileage & Trail Conditions: 2+ miles. Hilly ups and downs. Stream crossings

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Clarissa Potter


Oct. 5: Saturday Morning: Woodland Walk

  • Neighborhood: Palisades neighborhood & Potomac River

  • Time: 9:00 - 10:030am

  • Description: woodland, hilly, single and double track trails, some stream crossings

  • Lead: Margaret Rietano + Elements Assistant
