The Woodland Access Initiative
One of DC’s many claims to fame is Rock Creek Park and it’s vast, spectacular network of winding trails, calm meadows, lazy streams, plus wondrous flora and fauna. Not to mention the peace, beauty, and quiet that eases the mind and lifts the spirit when we spend time in this expansive park.
This treasured natural setting is not readily and equally accessible to all the citizens of our DC community. Elements is working to increase access to these green spaces through our programming, partnerships, and individual support.
Thank you for making a difference!
PROGRAMMING ACCESS: Enable ALL Kids & Adults to experience Elements programs & experiences.
In an effort to increase accessibility to DC's treasured parks and expand the Elements program across income levels, we are offering sliding- scale or waived registration-fee for a limited number of KIDS & ADULT program participants.
To learn more please email Margaret at mrietano@theelementsdc.com.
INTERN & CREW ACCESS: Support our Crew & Interns by helping them physically get out to the trail head.
Each season, we hire qualified candidates coming from across DC’s universities, high schools, and partner organizations such as, City Kids Wilderness Project.
Some of our Crew and Interns are commuting from their home or high-school to the trail-head where we conduct our programs. For many, options for public transportation are limited or not feasible, and we do not want access to be a barrier to working with us.
When transportation is limited, Elements Crew and Interns have access to an Elements Uber account so they can get to and from their Elements shift in a safe and timely manner. Your support helps us provide this essential offering. By contributing to our Woodland Access Initiative, we will be able to provide ride-share expense reimbursement.
If you are interested in working/interning at Elements, yet proximity and/or transportation to our programs is challenging, please let us know so we can provide support.

Non-Profit Partner: City Kids Wilderness Project
City Kids offers extraordinary outdoor adventure experiences for children living in the greater Washington D.C. area. City Kids programs take place locally during the school year and summers are on the Broken Arrow Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Participants leave the familiar urban environment and discover the outdoors, often for the first time. By learning new skills, meeting new friends, and developing greater self-confidence, our students are better able to succeed in building happy, healthy, and productive lives.
Note from Elements D.C.: We're proud to call the City Kids Wilderness Project our partner non-profit! We donate 3% of profits from our Kids Programs. We also hire qualified high-school City Kids as Elements paid interns.
